My Latest Assignment

A couple of weeks ago, my whole class was given an assignment that's due today. Everyone had to study a Maori tribe and write an essay about it. I chose to study Te Ati Awa and my essay is 754 words long.

100 word challenge

As I search through the forest I hear screaming. It sounds like a girl. I run through the grassy landscape, I hear the flow of the river, it feels like I haven’t had a drink in days. The noise is getting closer and closer, I feel like I can just reach out and she will be there. After what feels like five minutes I find an opening and then I saw bright light. I feel dizzy and fall. Later I wake to find that I had left my light on.

100 Word Challenge

NOT A TRUE STORY …

Here is a story that’s based on absolutely nothing:

One day, I was frolicking around the room like young children often do. I was simulating ballet although I only did dancing for a single term when I was five and I reviled it.

My sister was telling me to stop, but I wouldn’t, so I started spinning through the air, and I landed on the ground.

 Suddenly, I heard a crack …

And a sharp pain in my leg …

I had broken it!

Not a true story.

Google Tricks

This is the usual way of searching on Google, however there are easier ways to do it.
Speech marks make it easier to search a specific topic such as stratus clouds.
Looking up the direct website is a good way, also by putting "site" first helps.
If you are looking up "stratus clouds" it might come up with definitions and things like that so put minus on stuff you don't won't to come up. It really helps you search up specific stuff.

My Speech

This is a video of my speech that I did about Hurricane Irene. I think I did well because on my score card, it said that I used three known language features, had eye contact 75% of the time, and got an overall score of 20/24. However, I think I could have had a better visual aid, because all I had was a small map.

I was really nervous before I started, especially because I went first, although I felt really good when I had finished it.

How to create an Infographic

Here is a list of instructions to create an infographic. There are quite a few programs that you can use, but I used "Pictochart".

1) Choose a subject (e.g clouds).
2) Sign in (or create an account).
3) Delete all the irrelevant text that is already there.
4) Drag a text box to where you want to type and adjust.
5) Start typing.
6) If you run out of space in your box, make it bigger or add another one.
7) Repeat steps 4, 5 and 6.

Add images and change background colour if you wish. An infographic shouldn't take any longer than two hours to create.
